The date of the first church on this site is uncertain but is certainly existed in 1331 as there is an account of the visit of Bishop Grandisson where the church is referred to as ‘sadly neglected’.

During restoration work carried out in 1931, the remains of a 15th century church were uncovered in addition to the foundations of a pre-Norman chapel, this measured 12 feet by 18. This 15th century building probably existed as a chapel of ease to Perranzabuloe. The only remaining part of this is the lower part of the bell tower.

The third and present Church was started in 1848 and dedicated on May 29th1851, it consists of a nave, north and south aisles, porch and west tower with a spire. It was built by Piers St. Aubyn.

A lightning strike on the tower in 1905 caused considerable damage and whilst the subsequent repairs were being carried out on the tower, the decision was taken to restore the bells.
